I at the mudded trough
to drink
clear divine water
the shore we kneel
all
and desert spirits
reaching each
for each our gulp
thinking truly it is ours
while your trough is
not mine
but elsewhere
and they kneel
at yet other bowls
see water
undivided
see us reaching it
boundless greens around
may ease your loss
my long awaited turn at the trough
or not
this day
we may hesitate
