Cause of ego

Hello,

Which one is the cause of ego?

1. Ignorance
2. Lack of self-love

Thanks!

For me you can't go after knowledge without your self being fully involved, and that includes your ego...

With self love things are different but I wouldn't criminalize the ego so much either...

Ego is not by itself destructive...

Kind regards

What do you mean by ''ego''? @green1. If there's agreed upon definition then we can move on and perhaps answer the question (?).

Hi Altair,

The ego says:

"I" control.
"I" judge.
"I" punish.
"I" give happiness.
etc.

instead of understanding, healing and friendship.

I hope I have made myself clear.

I don't think understanding is ego. I mean it is not "selfish".

The sense of self develops through everything it’s exposed to in the first five years of life... So the earthly foundation is laid in those first five years. As we grow and develop differently we build a larger picture of ourselves and life. Our ignorance is our ‘foundation’ until we see we are not that The ego controls through all those things you’ve mentioned until it no longer does. Unveiling our ignorance..At that point, It kind of takes a back seat..

So both contribute to its inception in the way you’ve shown.

If you’ve not been loved and cared for where your ‘I’ is aligned to loving sources outside of yourself, then that formation of love often requires self love, to overcome that deficit. When sources outside of you are loving and caring without ignorance from them, then a child develops its sense of ‘I am’ much easier than one who is not. It ‘feels’ love and loves more freely..it’s much more aligned to the ‘oneness’ of all life.

My understanding of, what is called the ego:
we, the body/mind/spirit complex, this makes up the personality.
The spirit, this is me, and the body/mind complex is the ego.
