Three Words: Samskara, Neuroplasticity and Meditation.

I thought this would be a good place to start a thread consolidating some information I've come across relating to what I touched on in this post:

Meditation's Impact on the Brain | Documentary Clip https://youtu.be/r3neFV38TJQ

Here's the full video "A Joyful Mind | Meditation and Mindfulness Documentary" https://youtu.be/HBX92PT3264

Here's a video I stumbled upon many, many years ago that inspired me to take meditation much more seriously - "Becoming Conscious: The Science of Mindfulness" - and where I first heard of Resting in Awareness, also known as Choiceless Awareness and Do Nothing Meditation courtesy of Jon Kabat-Zinn. One of the panelists, Neuroscientist Richard Davidson, is in the short excerpt of "A Joyful Mind" above. https://youtu.be/5TeWvf-nfpA?list=PL...ydVp1WpVnPNokg

"Meditation and Going Beyond Mindfulness - A Secular Perspective". Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche is a Tibetan monk and frequent participant in Richard Davidson's lab investigations into mindfulness meditation. He's also the monk in the first clip being inserted into the fMRI machine. https://youtu.be/ukTaodQfYRQ?list=PL...qIg8q6QRm5Y J

Here's the connection to spirituality.

Samskara https://www.yogapedia.com/definition/5748/samskara

The Second Arrow Parable https://mindfulnessmeditation.net.au/arrow/

I know it's a lot of info but if one is serious about meditation, either as a secular or spiritual practice, it's really invaluable stuff.

Meditation is essential to a serious spiritual practice.

Thanks, JASG.

The Goal of Meditation

Swami Sarvapriyananda speaks on the goal of meditation by teaching the differences between yogic and vedantic techniques. This discourse is from a retreat on Vedantic Meditation held in Monroe, NY in 2018.

Wohoo

I am going to craft a presentation about meditation and how it has changed my own life from one of chronic suffering to one of acceptance. I think that I may like to do it in a storytelling style.

I will be watching these resources over the coming days amongst others to gather inspiration and new insights. I am excited... it looks like there is some great content here.

Thanks JASG.

That's cool! You can also check out my YouTube channel (link in my sig) and the Mindfulness and Meditation playlists. I've got lots of other good content there.

Thank you

I have begun my journey through the videos today by watching the ones I feel will be most useful for my task.

I am applying the KIS (keep it simple) method but omitting the last 's' as I do not like to call myself names
