Picking up on a specific persons energy

So I am looking for some guidance with this...I met someone last year and I know we knew each other before either of us were born. I feel that connection, and he does as well. Whenever him and I spend time together I feel so happy, energized, and peaceful. But, like tonight, after we got done spending time together and he leaves I feel so empty. Like, I literally feel his energy depart my home when he leaves and it's such a blow to me. I always sit and cry when he leaves just because of how hollow and empty my home feels and how I feel. He is a wonderfully dear friend and I love him so much. But nothing romantic. I'm 29 and he's 21 and Im just not romantically attracted to younger guys. He means so much to me...he's one reason I moved away from my home 3 states away was because I feel so pulled towards him I couldn't bare to be away from him. I told him this, and he knows how sensitive I am to energies but I don't feel like he truly understands and I really don't expect him to :) I prayed about it, and I know I am supposed to be here and closer to him...although I'm not really sure why yet. But my issue here is that I don't truly understand WHY the heck I feel so hollow when he leaves yet when he's here I am so full of life, happiness, and complete contentment. Any help would be appreciated.
