For me the keywords here are good memories and warmth, remembering or imagining good feelings makes you "warmer", which for me is necessary to be confident and "strong" enough to do an ap. I am not expert about meditation, but I imagine it is based on this feeling to be warm or in other words to have a deep vibration state.
You have a very good intuition, for the privacy matter just ask him in ap I guess, idk.
