Where are the medals?
At times before
In times of war
Medals were given to the brave.
Where are the medals for the common folk?
We who wait
Hoping
Barely coping
Watching in sorrow and pity
For the lost and disturbed
Who play poker
With our lives.

The common folk
Hold each up
Those lost
The folks call back
Those who fall
Into pits of greed
The common folk
Call out
The medals
Shine only
When the light shines
Otherwise remain unseen
The medals are
The love and care given
Without asking for:
A return
Yes, may tear
At the heart
To see the sorrow and pain
If we stand together
To heal and love
Will not fall apart
The light will remain
To have the medals
From the heart
Once more shine
For all to see
