two boys

There were once two boys who were born on the same day.

The first boy was called Andrew.

The second boy was called John.

Andrew was very small and was the first child of his parents.

John was big he was the third child in his family having 2 older brothers.

Andrew was the apple of his parents eyes, they did everything they could to ensure he was a happy child. He always had nice toys and clothes and plenty of quality time with his parents.

John was an inconvenienec to his parents. They had conceived him by accident and did not have a lot of time for him as they had to work long hours to pay the bills as well as having 2 older children to look after. When John was 2 his parents conceived again and when he was three a baby sister was born. Johns dad then got the snip.

Andrew was a very contented little boy rom a very early age, everyone always said how good he was.

John was a neglected little boy from a very early age. Once his sister was born John received almost no positive attantion from his parents, in fact the only attention he did receive came when he was "naughty". Johns younger sister was given a lot of attention, but John being a difficult child who could not be trusted was often told in no uncertain terms to "stay away from your sister, if you hurt her you will be punished". John didn't like his sister for this reason, she made his parents angry at him. Because she made him angry for this reason John hurt her whenever he had the opportunity. Sometimes his parents caught him hurting her, this is when John learned that he was a "naughty, difficult and even evil" little boy.

John and Andrew started school on the same day.

Andrew was still a little boy, he was shy and quiet, well dressed (in new clothes that his mother had dressed him in) and had impeccable manners.

John was large and boisterous, he was loud, sloppily dressed (in his brothers hand me downs put on by himself in a hurry while his mother shouted at him to "hurry up or i'll leave without you) and had never been taught about manners.

On that first day Andrew and John found out they shared the same birthday and struck up an unlikely friendship that would last through childhood and into adulthood.

Within a week the teacher had "realised" that Andrew was an angel and John was the "spawn of the devil", her words not mine.

During lessons Andrew and John did not talk as they were in different ability bandings but during playtime they would talk and play together. John would defend Andrew (who was a very fragile little boy) from bigger aggresive boys. Andrew would play with John as though he was a nice little boy (which really he was), he made John feel liked.

As the years progressed the friendship grew. As is the way with friendships formed early in life, there was a strong bond of trust built through shared experience. The two friends looked very odd together, John so big and aggresive and Andrew so small and meek but it worked.

When Andrew went to Johns house he could see why John was the way he was and he knew that the boy he knew was so much better than the boy everyone else looked at with distain. John loved Andrew because he could see this and was angry with the world that no one else could do so.

John thought he was the Devil and that Andrew was God.

Andrew knew that the Devil was just God mistreated.
