Teachers, mirrors or are they the same thing?

I know a lot of people believe that every person we draw into our lives in relationships and friendships are our mirrors. Like attracts like.
Is this purely an energetic thing or would it be obvious in life experience and personality traits, too?
I feel like I have seen this at times but mostly I seem to attract "teachers" into relationships. People who I have a lot to learn from, push my buttons, that kind of thing and me them. It's not typically drama as I am really open and agreeable and don't take a lot personally. They don't seem like they are like me that much, of course we have similar interests but also like we have a lot of opposite qualities and much to learn from them.
But ya, just wonder what others thoughts are on this.

I've noticed that happen with a former supervisor I had. I don't think it's necessarily limited to romantic relationships. You can be mirrors to anyone who is a significant part of your day-to-day life.

Leave this thing to the person who taking the benefits from it, Only his mind can decide how he take this thing in teachers way or in mirrors way.
