Can anyone control someone's mind through hypnosis

I grew up watching a lot of cartoons where hypnosis and mind control altered the behavior of the person being put under. So even though Im a rational man (most of the time) I still wonder if it's possible to truly subvert someone's mind.

I am curious as to why you would like to know this? I'm genuinely curious about this when I have questions too. It's usually insightful to discover the motivations for these lines of inquiry.

I work with clients using hypnosis although only two years before I began to do this, I would never have imagined choosing this line of work - especially as it relates to spirituality. It's true that we can be influenced by mainstream media and others who have a big presence socially, however, just think of how hypnosis is represented in those arenas. It's not a positive or empowering representation generally - people acting like chickens are being manipulated. The truth is, it's a very powerful tool as it helps us to tap into our own inner world and inner power, and like any powerful tool, it can be used for good, or not so good. ;-)
