Sounds wonderful and what a privilege!!
These free animals make the best pets! You dont get that massive guilt trip when you go away about who is to feed them, how are they going to cope without you....
Provided they don't become dependent on handouts....its the best deal!
We had an echidna on our property for years..but I haven't seem him in a while.....I live on a property (when I'm not in this 'city' dwelling) that if it moves and its not a sheep or your dog..its shot. I have to accept that of the locals...so I try and plant (in a drought shadow) as many trees as is possible to create a safe haven for animals and life to take shelter and cover in, eat from, and nest in.
Its my goal...
Early this year I planted 160 trees....3 rows. Two severe frosts followed and I lost more than half. The last count there was 39.
I haven't been there for nearly two months.
Its an uphill battle but I know what does survive..will be in for the long haul!
