Interesting, I wonder why your "sister in law" would be "spiteful"? What would be the roots for such feelings in which you perceive to be "spiteful"? Did you cause these reactions by your speech or actions?
Did you do wrong by this individual? Did you get involved in matters that had nothing to do with you? Did you get involved in someones life where you had no right to? Did you speak on this persons behalf when you had no true knowledge or understanding of the individual or the nature of the circumstances/situation? Did you violate the rights of this individual (property, possessions, pursuits, person, reputation, etc) ? Did you do the bidding of another person/entity? Did you act or speak in a dishonorable or dishonest fashion?

I dealt with a spiteful sis-in-law, for 19 years.
Finally made her day when I divorced her sis. Cheater, repeat offender w/no guilt.
Sis was very happy to see me go!
She was jealous from day one. She was the prettiest of the three girls, and felt entitled to the best hubby.
But her sis got him instead, and between ex's friends and big pretty sis's Jealousy, well it had to come undone somehow eventually.
And I am now thankful it did. Life goes on!!

Walk away. You have that choice. You don't deserve to be treated like that.

Maybe the OP is the spiteful sister in law. The OP didn't say anything about being a victim.

.... I took it to mean that too.... That she is actually the spiteful sis in law , in a tongue in cheek way.... As the message was just a friendly greeting... But I might be wrong...
