I've been growing!

So this summer I've decided the grow a few vegetables 2 tomato, 2 chilli peppers and 2 bell peppers.

Anyone give me any tips on growth and care?

The chilli peppers are struggling, I bet a spoonful of love and light will help them on their way ;) I should post some pictures if people are interested, I'd recommend growing things, it's satisfying

That sounds wonderful! Maybe you can grow a couple onions and cilantro while you're at it and make some fresh salsa when they're all grown up!

My dad had a veggie garden when I was a kid, but I didn't do a whole lot but water them sometimes and pick them.

I take it this is your first time being Farmer Cumbria?

Hiya Cumbria

It's wonderful growing from seed, isn't it?

I used to grow loads a few years ago...then stopped (no facilities and lack of motivation). However, this year I'm growing Pak choi (a chinese cabbage) and Cosmos. The Pak choi is coming on a treat, almost ready to be pricked out...and the Cosmos is just sprouting.

I used to talk to the babies. Tell them how beautiful they were and when I pricked them out, I'd reassure them that they were simply moving into a bigger home with lots more room to stretch and grow. It certainly didn't harm them and I had more plants than I knew what to do with!

That's a lovely idea Silvergirl - I will wait until my roses are out - they are absolute stunners!

Thank you.

Only advice is lots of sun needed for those things and don't over water. if the leaves turn yellow water LESS.

Other advice, don't handle the chillie pepper plants and touch anything sensitive on your face like your eyes or nose or mouth, if you do and it starts burning use milk/cream as a wash.

Oh, try a coupla strawberry plants, everbearing ( not June bearing) for fruit on your cereal. Water them more often then the veggie plants. Have fun with em all.

Funny my husband and I want to grow this year but thank god we didn't earlier as now it's winter again in mid may so we're waiting until this bout of rain stops to try to grow I can't wait to eat stuff that I grew myself.
