Given the treacherous sea of language I thought he might get some stick for "disrobing"...

I see him the opposite. But then I am not defining orthodoxy as you are. I also see the orthodoxy of self defined authority. Fixed authoritative views. Orthodox is from the Greek orthodoxos, meaning “of the right opinion” and many ego's can claim to have it. My orthodoxy verses theirs in other words.

Well he wanted to marry a nun he met so he had no choice. Buddhist monks and nuns are expected to be celibate. Not married.

We westerners just do not understand the eastern committment to a vow.

In America, we would admit to a transgression, say sorry, and get a hug of forgiveness. In Japan, you chop off your little finger to atone for your selfish indiscretion that had harmed others.

There is no disrobing for a monk who wants to sleep with a nun. It's harakiri: ritual suicide by disembowelment with a sword.

We just do not understand the meaning of shame. Guilt? Forget meditation to cast it away. Therapy will help you get rid of it.

Not necessarily true.

Just think of Yaśodharā, who got wedded to her cousin.

That was a folk story, BigJohn. In real life, pumpkins don't become coaches, mice into horses, and the rats into grooms and footmen.

Was Yaśodharā's husband also a folk story?

Not all Schools, some of The Buddha's Disciples are said to have been married.
