Hi Lostsoul,
Seems to me that when you're alive and in a human body, that you're at least incarnated, that is , if it's your first incarnation.
If it's your 2nd life or more, then you can speak of reincarnation, coming back into the flesh.
I'm not sure about the rest you're mentioning.

It's often passed through my thoughts that we have no idea what percentage of the current seven and a half billion - or so - of earth's inhabitants are here for the first time.....

The subject of reincarnation - whether we've had other lives here in this dimension - is one that fascinates folk and comes up frequently in discussion threads. Some claim to remember previous lives yet others have no clue about their own, always assuming they have had any. Does it suggest they haven't or that recall of them is comparatively uncommon?

My guess is that 'new' incarnates, those here for their first time, may opt for the simplest of lives in-the-body as their 'starter' and the most demanding lives - for example experiencing extreme illness or physical/mental incapacity - may be chosen by more spiritually advanced souls eager to enhance their spiritual progress.

It's all interesting to consider but ultimately we simply do not know if our ideas and theories are anywhere near right.
