The lesser brethren: The birds and animals are our brothers and sisters in the great universal family of God. It is man's sacred duty to care for them and protect them and help them in their need.

Old post, but i feel have to add that many pigeons in towns are ex-racers or got lost snd stopping to feed. Racers are required to have injections against diseases as they are considered poultry, before they can be raced and many loftowners really appreciate non-fanciers who feed their birds to refuel them to make it home if they had a bad race.
