Bunny Crystal for a pendulum

I'm going to make a home-made pendulum but I want to put one of my own crystals into it. What crystal would be best to put in a pendulum and any suggestions on how to make one would be great. I mainly want to have my pendulum more personal with me so it will resonate with me more-so than a store bought one.

Thanks!

I'm a fan of clear Quartz, and that's a stone that's easy to come by, so that would be the first thing I'd look at.

Stick to the harder stones. Look up the Mohs hardness of any stone you're considering using. Avoid softer ones like Selenite, Turquoise, and Fluorite. If you're going to carry your pendulum around often, softer stones could chip or crack under that kind of wear-and-tear. I'd say to choose stones that have a Mohs hardness of at least 5.

The maximum hardness is 10, represented by a diamond. I don't think there'll be too many diamond pieces out there that are large enough to make a pendulum, though. I remember that Topaz has a hardness of 8, and all the types of Quartz have a hardness of about 7. (Some varieties are a little softer at 6.5, and some like Herkimer Diamonds can be as hard as 7.5.)

Do you have any stones already in your collection that you were thinking of using, or are you going to go on a shopping expedition and buy a new stone specifically for making a pendulum?

I use a clear quartz stone in my pendulum, as clear quartz can be programmed to do almost anything.

I do have stones that have been given to me over the years but I could not completely tell you what they are called. I just know what they are used for. The ones I do know for a fact of the names are Moonstone and Tigers eye. I am willing to buy certain ones however

My best suggestion is to find a stone with good weight and, if you'd care to do more precise work (such as using the pendulum to swing between multiple options on a board) a pointed shape is good too. I make crystal pendulums with wire wrapping and the stones I've picked range from obsidian to rose quartz to calcite but they all have a good weight when you hang them from a chain. Too light a stone and it will be harder to use. Too heavy, too oddly shaped, too round, and it'll be harder to use. But as for which crystal in particular, pick one that resonates well with you.

I've got the most beautiful amethyst - it is rough cut and dull as a result but rich in colour and that is my pendulum.

But I can't pendulum to save my life! I've tried different stones and I'm working on building a relationship with this amethyst to see how things evolve.

Thank you for sharing! I remember how hard it was to work with pendulums to begin with. It was so frustraiting! Don't give up and good luck!

Thanks Ladybugskiss.

I've asked so many questions for a yes and a no and it's not transpired as I expected. But, then there are layers of answers and I may be asking the wrong questions.

Have you asked it to show you it's yes, no and maybe? That's what people told me to do at the beginning. I like to put more of a personalization in my objects that I use for such things for example depending on the pendulum I tell it what indicates a yes and I show it like clockwise is for yes and intentionally swing it clockwise. Some pendulums however want to be stubborn so I have to ask them to show me their yes. What I use to do to get it to work for me however, is I would tell it to show me my yes and if it didn't move after a good bit I would move it for it then I would tell it to stop and again if it didn't stop on it's own I would aid it. After a while it's like it got the message and then I started asking it no or yes questions and it actually worked. Very small movements but noticeable until they started to become stronger the more I played with it. Also, I've been told that if you bought one recently and it's not working for you swing it over your head or run it under cool water to sort of cleanse it of energy from previous people who have played with it. Maybe that might help?
