A very nice experience, and just what self-healing can be about - remember that reiki was originally a spiritual thing rather than a healing thing, and that self-healing is part of the spiritual maturation. Learning to love and accept oneself for who we are is part of the journey.
In terms of where it comes from, this is driven internally from the being that individual we each are, it is not in any way occult or dangerous, it is natural outcome of being a soul and so has happend throughout the soul's evolution.
