hiding the last piece of apple pie now. some posts talked about seeing yourself in a mirror, none of us have seen our own heads in 3D.... that's odd. then there's that thing where people don't like the sound of their own voice from a recording, scientists say the reason for that is we have never heard what our actual voice sounds like to others, we hear the "in my head" version which is different.

that's true. When I hear a recording of myself, I sound so rough and when I see myself in a window, I want to vomit.

Where is that thread on What Members Say?
Reminded me of:

I hate the guys
That minimize
and criticize
the other guys
whose enterprise
has made them rise
above the guys
that criticize.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

soul and spirit

Here i used the word 'Self' with capital 'S' to denote spirit . Spirit denotes pure unadulterated eternal awareness/consciousness in individual which is small particle cosmic consciousness.

Ego - I maker contents you talk about when mixed with spirit becomes a soul in Christianity . There are similar terms in other religion also.

Psychologically what u say makes sense . But - psychology is not alone in the world . There is spirituality also . And world wide lot of great spiritual people in various region / period have said/experienced about pure unadulterated awareness - Spirit . And I definitely can resonate very well with them . So I still contend that Spirit is the one who creates the experience - creating various illusions , delusions and confusions (including that I-maker is the center of the field of consciousness ). While u can carry on with your belief , I certainly dont believe it to be final truth . There is lot more to it than meets the eye.

I guess Jung - who was regarded as a great mind of his time and was a Spiritual adept, particularly in Advaita Vedanta - was delusional then?

Spirit is not the one that creates the experience, your unconscious (and its various subsystems) creates your experience - the experience is the experiencer. A discussion of who/what I am is incomplete at best without at least some understanding of psychology, because we are far more that most people want to believe we are. The 'I' that the I-maker or Ahamkara creates is itself an 'invented thing', the an 'invented thing' creates the 'I' that is seen in the mirror.
