There is love and fear, so is there also self love and self fear?

This is on my mind a lot. We all know that there is love and that there is fear. We also know there is self love. Does it not equate then that there is self fear? I am sure that self fear is one of my tendencies. I am uncertain, self doubtful and I really worry about the wrong I do in the world. Calling myself I AM or God seems alien to me.

Most people that I know find the idea of self fear unusual. After all how can one fear ones own self? However I suspect that self fear is a symptom which many of us have on an unconscious level.

With your self-fear - is it the consequences you are afraid of? I know that I am afraid of myself in some respects, I am afraid of doing harm but I never know if that is because I want people to think well of me ? Or something else.

Better solution to the self-fear dilemma: no-fear, neither the "self-" type, nor any other type of fear.

Fear is the most detrimental emotion somebody can experience.

Fear brings in your life situations that will cause you to feel more fears, all kind of fears.

Whenever you feel any fear, change your focus (your thoughts) to something that makes you happy, that gives you confidence in yourself, that makes you proud of yourself for what you are and what you did, that makes you feel content.

Surely, if there is a problem, deal with it, but not from the position of fear.

If you had said, 'there is love and hate'...I could have related to the question.

I think fear goes deeper than hate. Hate is like an angry reaction to something. A feeling of revulsion or hostility. But fear is like an existential crises from which there is no escape. I would rather hate than be afraid.

Yes it is related to the consequences. It is also a feeling of being overwhelmed by responsibility. If I AM then I am the cause of so much stuff. I am war, and death and so on.

Hate is always an interesting angle- in my book it often derives from fear.

Honza, how about introducing a little compassion. I agree, we are the cause of a lot of stuff, but let's start with ourselves and forgive ourselves for letting ourselves down, for not being the best we might be - for whatever reason - and letting this compassion ripple out to the bigger things.

Oh yeah, I would rather hate than fear, too.
However, I would disagree that there is no escape from fear.
(But, I usually disagree with superlatives...never, always, no possible way, you know.)

Couldn’t agree more( my only use of I am is explaining my twin flame theory:but at the moment I am; I am...I am ;with fear but I suppose fear is territorial... I would find my place first then succeed : my relationship with fear is my relationship with pain which is just noise: I’m Afraid of hearing —-
