Sola Fide.

How important is Sola Fide.
Is it seen as the essential doctrine of Christianity or should it be relegated to secondary importance ?

sola fide justification of souls is a tenet of most Lutheran and Reformed sects but not the Roman Catholic nor the Eastern Orthodox church...

so it was important to Martin Luther

''Sola Fide means that faith is never alone: it always has its object, and when the object of faith
is Sola Christi, then no works are needed, for Christ has done it all, for you!''

Sola means in Latin only or alone
fide means faith
gratia means grace
sola Christi means only Christ

How to pronounce

A little bit more understanding here - 3 min

Hope this helps some.

Only faith or Faith alone?
I'm not for any sentence with only, never, always, everyone, myself.
It seems 'only' 'faith and asking' were the ticket to Paradise for the criminal on the right!!!
(Pretty bad criminal, I'd say, to be killed! He wasn't hungry and stole some bread!)

Seems to me thoughts, words and deeds count.
Could I be a murderer and thief with no remorse and expect good things for me....JUST because I believe in Jesus?
I sure wouldn't count on it!

No... I personally don't believe in it but was curious after talking about it with someone, seems the Doctrine split Christianity.I know some passages in the NT teach we will be judged according to our works which obviously is contradictory to Pauls Teaching....
Faith alone doesn't make sense to me.

It took me over a year to figure out the difference.
But I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
What was your point, btw, bringing that up? Always a good topic.
