Yes but rational investigations involving historical and archaeological facts do not support it.

Investigations have also shown the mythology was taken from earlier sources, this is now a fact. Although you can't Google it or find the information in our filtered encyclopedias, Egyptologist D.M. Murdock has been studying materials closer to the source for years now and written several books. Complete with all material sourced.

So rational debates usually end with "I don't care about facts, I have faith!"

Which is fine. Anyone may believe as they like but to suggest that it actually holds up against a rational investigation, that isn't true.

Isn't the first thing the Roman Catholic church did in 12a.d. was to assume the gospels were 100% true, no matter what else history may say or prove, the gospels are the word of God, end of story.
That is not rationality, it's a faith based decision.

Why some people don't believe

Why don't you accept Jesus?
It seems siimple to believe in him.
Or is it too hard to believe in the stories told about him?

There must be 100 stories as to why not...I just tossed out a few possibles...

Sorry to break up the discussion, this is a reply to the post (by Miss Hepburn) that started this thread.

First I will quote a few thoughts from Master Beinsa Douno (Peter Deunov), a 20th century Bulgarian sage and Teacher of Esoteric Christianity:

"Faith is related to knowledge. We can obtain access to positive knowledge only through faith. You cannot believe unless you have knowledge, and you cannot know unless you have faith. There is this Law: through his faith in God Man attracts Wisdom". ... "As your faith grows, so does your knowledge grow. As soon as you grow in knowledge, you grow in faith as well. If faith becomes stronger, but knowledge does not grow - this is not true faith. And thus, as an inner striving of the spirit, faith leads Man to the Realm of Knowledge."
"There exists a connection between the mind of Man and the Consciousness of God. Faith is based upon this connection. To believe in God means to connect with Him, to establish connection with Him.The Power of God then flows through Man; true faith therefore indicates the creation of a continuous connection with God, since a relationship with God can be established only through faith. His Powers will flow through us. For this reason I call faith the Law of Nourishment. The Law says: Faith is the connection by which the Divine Forces flow into human souls"
(these are from the book: "The Wellspring of Good - The Last Words of the Master Peter Deunov", Kibea Publishing, 2002, Bulgaria)

These thoughts can be, I believe, enough for someone trying to understand why some people don't have faith in Christ. They have obviously lost the connection with Him. For the past 2000 years since His coming, people have gradually lost knowledge about Jesus Christ and His profound Deed. They have turned their minds and hearts only towards the external, material world and have completely forgotten the inner revelations of the Spirit. Now is a time when His Words "and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven" are being fulfilled, as many will be awoken and will remember Him, and will come out of their graves, so that every knee will bow before Him.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru
