Metamorphosis

After one has been correctly baptized, there is a period of metamorphosis that goes on to bring about change within ones inner being in such and such a way as to accommodate more of the divine currents and inner workings of the Holy Spirit.

This period can be symbolized as a cocoon in which we are molded and tested, and that which is of no use falls away, as we yield to the inner workings of the Holy Spirit.

In this period, we see how Jesus himself was moved by the Spirit to be tempted in an isolated place. The devil brought three chief types of temptation of which were:

1. In the first temptation, stones are turned into bread. The devil would love that you seek God and His Word for transient things only instead of permanent attainments.

2. In the second temptation, the devil lifts Jesus Christ up on to a high mountain and offers him authority and power over all the kingdoms. There are many times children of Light have been offered this kind of thing by a wide variety of demonic spirits. And I can attest to the fact that this is so, as these dark forces have offered me "temporary bread" to leave Christ behind. Saint Irene of Chrysovalantou once told me that in this wilderness, the things of this world are but mirages at a distance, and when one has come close to these mirages and grasped them, they soon realise they are holding a pile of sand... All that hope ending up in all that pain.

3. In the third temptation, the devil takes Jesus ontop of the temple and asks him to tempt God. It so happens that as we have God living and operating in us, some are quick to fall into the delusion that because Daniel was not hurt in the lions den, we too can at any time enter the zoo and hang out with the lions. There seems then a line between true boldness in the Lord and plain foolishness! At no point should we try to tempt God or cause him to become our "house keeper" as He will not share His glory with anyone and the law of free will demands that consequences be met after an operation of free will.

And after all these temptations, Jesus came out in the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:14)... Becoming whom He was purposed to be.
