Goddess Kali

I was meditating and saw what appeared to be the goddess Kali's face. what is happening in meditation when this happens? I looked because how can you not when the face appears? and then I went back to focusing on my breath like I am supposed to do. But what was that? why does that happen?

[Unseeking Seeker]

In my view, all manifestations we see are associations of some layer of mind. We can call them all real, the way we call objects we see in the external world as real, as dream images too are real for the duration of the dream to us in trance within the dream.

Likewise, realms and domains are real or we may call them thought projections, it does not matter. They are there. Whether we want to be there too or not is up to us.

Abstract objects too are manifestations, like mental constructs.

In this connection, I often quote Swami Yukteswar Giri, who said, ‘the presence of form in any realm or domain signals unfulfilled desire’.

So Goddess Kali, the Divine Mother, She is real. The kundalini is real. And yet, with the caveat that these realities are as necessitated in duality.

The transcendent (singularity) is real, the immanent (duality) is real. As long as we hold on to a trace of identity, manifestations will do. Do not cling to any image however, is what I’d say.
