All mediums when working with discarnate entities first put themselves into the safe hands of their spirit guides and helpers. They will begin, inwardly, with the vitally important ritual of asking for protection. The danger for people who use psychic gifts for amusement or for wrong purposes is that they will be at best unprotected, at worst actually calling upon dark powers to take them over. Like, however, tends to attracts like in the next world as in this and our own spirit helpers though we may not have made contact with them personally are on hand to help us.

There is a great difference between possessing psychic gifts and being a medium. A medium is someone with a significant gift who has dedicated his or her life to working to help link those in the next life with those in Earthly life. Once this dedication has been made, wise beings in the next life begin to work with the trainee

Ivy wrote a book called The Mechanics of Mediumship, An excellent book for anyone who is serious about mediumship. The book answers many questions one may have and is very encouraging.
An excellent book that has inspired many in the early years of developing mediumship.
