Hello Busby. Please excuse my long winded reply in advance ....
But you did challenge me and ask !!!

When you've got Hull blood running through your veins enough said.The women of Hull are not called "fishwives" for nothing, and all respect. They call a spade a spade.
Let's take , for example , Lillian Bilocca...."Big Lil"....
Born 26 may 1929 Hull.
Died 3rd August 1988 in Hull Royal.
The very hospital many of my kin were born including my precious grandbabies.

Lillian's campagne was for safer fishing measures , as leader of the "headscarf heroes" , and inspiration enough.
Put it this way , they dont paint your mural the height of three double decker buses on the side of a building behind the Paragon exchange for nothing.

My grandad was a trawlerman from Hull.
And my great uncle ( his brother ) was lost at sea age 26 on his maiden journey to Norway , during a storm on valentine's day , and Is recorded in the book of rememberance in the maritime museum in Victoria Square Hull.

And then of course my other ancestor , Nurse Edith Cavell , executed during ww1. Why ??? For being "humane" and trying to save lives.

Both of the above named ladies a great inspiration to me and my beliefs in doing all that I can to help raise awareness and be pro-active in fighting for a cause .

So YES .
The planet can be saved/ helped/ healed .
But it needs a lot of homework and it needs us to go back to basics .

No- one can run a marathon without training.
Someone with two broken legs cannot learn to run again before they first learn how to walk.
Rome was NOT built in a day.

HOMEWORK
RESEARCH
ACTION.....

it CAN be done ..

But even before all of that ..

EDUCATION.

Not by one person, but by the masses who have learnt by

RESEARCH

But ....
Above and beyond that ....

HUMANITY
CARING
SHARING
and
LOVE .

I happen to agree with Angel Blue I'm not from Yorkshire but I know people who are,
and they are just as she Describes them.
My families history are the pits politics and Teachers from my parents side my in laws were farmers forestry workers,
But both sides worked the land.
Here we don't
look at the weather on tv we go by what the animals are doing.

We look after the land and Mother Earth will only take so much messing before you feel her Wrath.
The planet will never be destroyed

We all live in the same world. I say this because I was born in Hull Royal Infirmary in 1938 so really I am a Yorkshire man as opposed to a geordie - I spent my childhood in war-torn Newcastle.

What I meant when I said 'the other's' is that we don't realize just how much even us careful ones do to the planet. It just needs a little bit of observation to see on what we would have to give up to let the planet breath.

I know you were born in hull.
My father born there in hull royal in '35 , his brothers in ' 37 and ' 39.
Sadly , my uncle Terry born in '37 now desceased .

I know what you mean Bus , and I think folks know what I mean.
I know how things could be changed and things COULD be changed for the better but we can't fight power and money to save the planet.

A man, in the news once , being interviewed. His plan was to build an enterprise , a bit like Vegas , full of casinos etc, right on the beach front.
Only problem being this "beach " was where all the giant turtles made the pilgrimage to give birth, bury all their eggs in the sand , then depart leaving their babies to eventually hatch out , make their way to the sea to hope they could then overcome all the dangers of a new born, living on instinct , to survive.

This "man " , for want of a better word , was being interviewed , and the reporter pointed out to him that the little baby turtles, thousands of them each year, would naturally get dis-oriantated
Because of all the lights from the casino's . They would get killed trying to cross the road to get to the light....

His response ?
He laughed as though it was the funniest joke he ever heard and responded "" I know.....but you can't stop "progress" for the sake of a few "tortoises"......
