Unconditional love does NOT mean love without conditions. It means love without conditioning. What kind of conditioning ? Meanness, spitefulness, jealousy, hate, ill-will.

It usually is defined in a different way by people I know. More kind of the live and let live definition.

Edit: I think you mean unconditioned love, referring to an original point where no hatred was learned. Unconditional means without condition, not without conditioning. Both are different but look the same.

Pure love can only be unconditional love.

Conditional love is not love at all, rather it is a form of deceit and manipulation to gain control over others.

Pure love is treating others and everything with kindness and compassion, and putting the needs of others ahead of our own. It is something we do naturally and innately without thinking about it or expecting benefit or praise in return.

The ego is not a bad thing. The ego mind, that some call the survival mind or the mind of lack, does serve a useful purpose of keeping us out of danger and staying alive as lost newbies in this unfamiliar part of reality.

The more times we return as humans here lifetime after lifetime, the more we will become familiar with this place and have greater understanding of the workings of this world. Then we could begin to push the ego that is our false nature to the background and work towards making our divine mind that is our true nature more prominent.

But as long as there is evil in this world, we can never completely do away with the ego yet. That is simply practical spirituality.

Being egoless sounds great, but we are still far from reaching that point collectively. In the meantime stay peaceful, joyful, and balanced. Meaning it is okay to make more money and have more possessions. It has always been about the intent and not be wasteful.

Shivmathur, i agree with you people are always in search of pure love unconditional love but if someone can be as you said egoistic, lusty, selfish, non caring then how can they achieve this, and yup you are right if someone have positive human qualities then it comes to unconditional love which is basically a sum of all positive human qualities.

As long as we are living in this low vibration part of reality where there is prevalent evil, the ego is needed to keep us out of danger and to stay alive.

The best we could do is to push the ego mind to the background and make more prominent our divine mind. That means in any adversity our first reaction will be from the ego mind. The higher our consciousness the faster our divine mind will kick in.

That said, unconditional love is doing what is best for others without expecting any personal benefit or reward in return. Done out of passion for the well being of others.

It's really quite simple.
Pure love is just that .... Pure.
It can never be replicated or exchanged .
It can never be made up or improvised .
You cannot put it where it isn't.
If its not there you can't pretend it is .
But if it is there you know about it.

Would we consider this about learning. It's not achieved in a single lifetime but in karma and reincarnation. There is a lot of good knowledge and advice that imo has been for sure given that implies being known just as the question implies what is known. It begins first simply knowing and being honest. I am not there yet myself. It is apparently known. Take what is known. For instance if you do not practice listening or using heart, practice it. It is also achieved by trying, it is known.

Listening, I believe, is the greatest gift one can give to another…..this puts it firmly in the category of pure love. When the ‘practice’ element is left behind it becomes pure listening……
