Sometimes people don't realise they are born mediums
Like myself included
I've seen spirit and heard it all my life like I said before always seems to me a funerals and f fade the energy and Vibes off me a funerals it does with some amazing
But since I started going to my specialist church 3 years ago I've not a lot more I have
I would have done more last year but covid-19 took that away from me and other things
But we all know I've been through a lot this year close my mum losing my mum and my uncle now and never broke gift at 2 to they were both gift it with the psychic gift to
21 with dementia my mum she is so accurate and spot on a x she was with the stuff especially whenever there was bad even other things she said come true
LU4 John so I lost 2-weeks ago ace O2 two-spirit two and supposed to split two he did
I sometimes think it is inherited been a medium psychic I've only us to ring you how it could have gone too far and the gift we've got they could have helped a lot of pater
I know I still can while I'm on earth plane
The only thing I hate like most other mediums is the we get premonitions they get especially the bad ones because we can't do nothing about it

Some, perhaps many, with the potential to become mediums may not recognise their potential in the early stages - why would they when they have no prior experience?

Some may be lucky enough to have a knowledgeable and competent medium to guide and support them - perhaps a family member - but others struggle to deal with their sensitivity.

Others experience psychic sensitivity/awareness but misunderstand and think they are mediums or that they are becoming mediums. There's no certainty that will be the case. Prediction or foretelling should not be offered in mediumship as there can be no certainty about the future, even if parts of it appear to be being seen by the practitioner.

I expect I'll be castigated for saying that but there's no virtue leaving someone to labor under misapprehension.

Some people/groups have changed over time, the definition of what a Medium is. If we go by the original definitions, the definitions are more encompassing which seem to be a 'rub' against those who follow the more restrictive definitions.

It appears the first usage of the word Medium 'appeared' in 1852.

If the less restrictive, original definition is used, it appears many on SpiritualForums would be classified as Mediums.

As the original theme of this thread asks "IS IT THAT EASY: BECOMING A MEDIUM" it surely refers to the present and not the past, not the way things might have been a century or more ago - even if it truly was that way.

Values in many fields of activity will have been very different a century and a half ago but we don't use those in the present day so why would we do any different in terms of mediumship?

I've repeatedly explained my position yet I haven't see anyone explaining why they believe I've got it wrong.

If a loose, woolly view about mediumship is used then all manner of psychics, sensitives and phenomenalists could be lumped together and be called 'mediums'.

In a similar way we might lump together everyone who thinks they can treat medical conditions of various kinds and call those practitioners 'doctors'. Is that who we'd want to treat us when we're sick?

Based on what I read here on SF there are very few mediums posting but there is a handful of psychics/sensitives/empaths.

In this year, 2021, there are similar definitions of what a Medium is. By studying the various definitions and the history of the word Medium, one can come to the realization "Why has the definition changed so many times in some belief systems and in some belief systems, hasn't changed at all? What happened?"

If you could look thru the lens of a Spiritist or an Animist, you might see the opposite. It is a matter of perception. Being there are several definitions of what a Medium is: Mediumship can become meaningless or it can go to the opposite extreme and be used to empower a person so they can move forward.
