@ pixiedust ... about free will, the seeming free will we have, is choice of response. instantaneous, reflex response, our core. this requires us to be in a continuum of unbroken mindful awareness, in vibrant agendalessness.
liken it to a dream. as both dreamer and dreamed, both subject and object, how may the object choose anything other than response, to what unfolds? thus, taking our this here, earth life as another dream, we as identity are the object, not the subject. as already determined, the object has no free will.
the actual question leading to this line of inquiry may be: ‘how then, may we, as object, awake within the dream?’
the answer is cessation. we vaporise, metaphorically speaking. no attachment, fear or desire related to transience. we still enjoy but release with ease, each impulse, with nonchalance.
this ends the purpose of dreaming. stillness. subject and object merge, in active cognition. we awaken within the dream.

in my opinion, that limitation only exists because you find the alternative too difficult and then decide it is impossible more for the practical reason that you simply don't want to try than anything else. |
