Oh yeah, I have been to forever and back, I am still there but visiting in the NOW...LOL....Also no drugs.

Matter of fact I was really really mad for some TIME that I could not stay in forever.
Which brings about the dilemma or the learning process of living in BOTH Worlds for NOW.

When I see the word Shaman I know and believe it to be a specific regional word (Siberia-ish region)
and Spiritual Practice which comes from the word šaman spoken by the Manchu-Tungus.
But I accept that people use the word very very loosely, fitting just about anyone they see fit.
I have never met a Shaman. At least not to my knowledge. I don't believe I have met anyone
that Practices a Siberian regional Practice of Shamanism. So when you say REAL Shaman don't need to take substances I believe you.
I have met and Practiced with Medicine people and Holy people
of Turtle Island (North America) and there are different sub classes and it is hard to pin this stuff down in language.
I prefer to see and feel someones Medicine or Holiness or Healing in Practice.
Then I can have a glimpse of understanding in a silent communication of who and what a person specializes in.
Like the silent communication you can get through hearing music.

Enough rambling from me, I should probably be doing while not doing something to prepare for Winter..LOL...

EDIT: I guess another term for silent communication might be vibe or resonance or essence that has a intuitive language.
Or maybe in Spanish "essência divina" or Divine Essence.
Words never seem to feel complete when I try to communicate...BLAH,BLAH...Grrr,Grrr.

Being for and against something – all at the same time – without contradiction is not easy to explain huh?

He is evoking or summoning a Spirit of something …. Ayahuasca? For some purpose/intent – with that long outbreath sound and the a a a a & the e e e e e e e e ? No?

Absolutely fascinating.
I’ll put this into the same category as ‘our’ Shamanic joiks/chants (posted in another thread) from 0:00 to 0:24 (before those Finnish girls - not understanding - turn it into ‘an ethnic singing style’ and become specialists in that ‘art-form’. DOUBLE GRRR.

How I love and hate 'art' all at the same time
Well. We all live in our psycho-spiritual corrals - often only seeing and comprehending our own projections.

Maria Sabina eh? I shall investigate further. Interesting sounds.

Thanks ImthatIm – the music is good and now I know who Maria Sabina was:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=987dqx3k-7Q

And wasn’t:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFY1tj5oX6o

“You don’t honour somebody by rewriting them to more closely fit your experience of who you want them to be”.

Me thinks this “whitewashing” happens/happened a lot to Amerinds.

And it is great Huni Kuin shares their culture and all, lord knows they need help securing their forests ….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0VjJmrXSJI

But how long will it take for the Huni Kuin culture to be ‘owned’ by others and made into ‘a new, improved version/presentation’ of it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30FrTsL_gN8

To my mind - genuine Huichol Shamen use Peyote. Genuine Peruvian/Brazilian Shamen use Ayahuasca. Maria Sabina took her mushrooms to heal and so on … and we had psychedelic mushroom cultural history as well, but for us ALL depends on shaman’s personal power, which was bestowed upon him or her by the other-dimensional Power Animal. For example, the Giant Eagle.

I so do wish the South American shamanic cultures to survive and as much as I don’t want to rewrite their Shamanism for them, I also do not wish the psychedelics (now often by popular belief - seen as synonymous with Shamanism) to define ours or 'Siberian Shamanism'.

Me thinks we hold some similar beliefs.

Maria Sabina had just popped up in my mind yesterday.
I did only know about her because I have read about the Father of our current Mycology, Gordon Wasson. (Which I am a very amateur Mycologist)
Which led me to that song (Maria Sabina).
I like the fusion of the new and old coming out of South and central America.
Maria was doing what she does and became regretful that the Sacred Medicines suffered for it....I get it.

I thoroughly enjoyed your vids. on the Huni Kuin.I was listening to their music all day yesterday and for awhile now along with other South and Central American music.
South and Central America's traditional revitalization is palpable way up here were I live.
We have been aware and supportive of the prophecies of the Condor and the Eagle coming back together.

Yep, people distort the psychoactive Medicines and make some cult-like thing out of the healers and the Medicines.

And I love my Brazilian neighbour. Land use … animal rescue … and she is DOING IT - 7 days a week.
Other than that, she is just plain ordinary - hasn’t joined a ‘neo-shamanic feral tribe’ or anything …

I like this vid. I ran into.
The kids powerful singing and strumming and the jug of medicine on the stump
and the huge bug that seemed to disappear into the guitar @ 3:11 mins.
I was immediately pulled in.
It seemed like the circle that formed after the tourists were tucked in.

I enjoyed it as well.
Latin flavour.
Right on …
Straight up. Unpretentious.

I also enjoyed this talk about Mazatecs of Mexico - about their cultural survival & medicine use:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnNCYxR0cJw

Interesting, interesting ….
Having a bit of an aversion to the word “prayer” (because here is where the pretentions often creep in) …. I liked her definition - “prayers as conversations with the invisible”.

And now I understand why these medicines are Feminine Entities.

Her healing experience from 38:50 onwards was beautiful …

Had had conversations with a Sth. Amer. - part indg. bloke whose mother (or was it grandmother?) had been a curer. He used a couple of these kind of 'medicines'.
When we talked, say numbers 1 to 10, we were in agreement from 1-2-3 and then 8-9-10 when the other dimensional worldview had taken over.
But we couldn’t talk about the steps 4-5-6-7, which I just, for the life of me, could not understand, but now I realize ... that is where one does rely on the medicine to create/enable/provide the *shift*

So, maybe they indeed should only be used as a healing method.
‘Our shamen' called various animal-spirit-helpers to come and take the sickness away.
