Saw a shooting star in the sky and made a wish

The star was big and not falling, it was moving forward...

Felt magical

And I remember really focusing on my wish, saying it in my mind more than once

I saw a falling star recently also. It looked like a meteor.

I didn't think to make a wish though...Darn!

I always think of it as a private fireworks display because my attention was drawn to look up at that moment.

You saw it in "real" life?

In my case it all happened in a dream, hehe.

For the Love of Stardust...

When I was a child, back in the forties - say at around ten years of age - I had this passion, for watching shooting stars as they were, and still are known...

I would go into the garden and spread myself out on the lawn, laying on a hessian sack, for comfort...

In those days, because the sky was not so polluted as it seems to be these days, those shooting stars were in an abundance - literally one after the other... Some appeared to be really large, with long sparkly tails that seemed to burn out in a ball of flame, whilst others, lasted only a short time, before fading away quickly... I used to ponder what happened to the remains, wondering if I could ever catch the dust that they'd obviously turned into...

I've never forgotten those early days, when I would Gaze into the sky... Later in life, I wrote a poem, about the stars and the remains...

For those who might be interested, this is that poem...

For the Love of Stardust

(By Robbie Dalziel)

In days gone by, I’d search the sky,
for stars, that somehow’d said goodbye
to all the friends they’d made since birth:
before they tumbled down to earth.

I often thought, if they were caught
and safely stored - not sold or bought
when I grew up I’d find a way
to help them get back home one day.

And so I reached and caught the dust
storing it safe - with love and trust
so tightly sealed within a cask
until t’was time to heed that task.

The years went by, those childhood dreams
were locked away - or so it seems
just memories of days gone by
when I would gaze into the sky.

One day, I came across that cask
and - mindful of that childhood task
with trembling hands, I peeped inside
excited traits I could not hide.

T’was there before my very eyes
the dust - once fallen from those skies
had turned into a twinkling light
a starry being: shimmering bright.

And so I fully raised the lid
and to the star - my farewells bid
with twinkling smile, it rose in flight
then disappeared into the night.

T’was later - realisation came
that childhood dreams are not in vain
for t’is these remnants from the past
that form a future, which will last.

Written with the essence of love,
peace and blessings,
for and to all who believe
in childhood dreams,
magic and imagination...

I liked that poem...I would call that a spell.
There is some kind of magic to it.

Thank you for that comment Rozie... That really connected with me, in a strange sort of way...

Can't explain it in words, but it kind of jogged something in my mind (no idea what that was either) and it's still vibrating in a sense, as though I need to look at those words more deeply than I've done in the past... Can't quite get my head around that...

Best wishes...

Robbie....
