It's a linguistic phrase used in Social dialogue nothing more nothing less it could have easily been replaced with the the or me me or any other number of self-identification words. It is only become popular due to scripture where the mistranslation States "I am that I am"

Words were not the 1st means of communication . Words are only a limited part of the available tools for understanding but unfortunately words have become are main method

Hi again, CV, :) Ha, My sister's initials I always refer to her as in writing.
And now you see why I answered the way I did in What is Maya?...this will be only the beginning
