True continuity of sadhana is very important . Growth in spirituality is evolutionary , slow and gradual but firm, real and permanent . So all in all everybody has ups and downs in their journey and u are right in continuing / having faith in the same .

As times goes on a maturity manifests and one can hold the inconceivable non-dual reality with the relative duality (whether real or apparent). and not be "found out" to be insane by society. This is where compassion (loving kindness) comes in.

It might be said that the motivation for Loving Kindness and compassion is the bridge to act in a world that of so called duality. The "acting" is a duality in form but not consciousness - thus it is a seeming duality (in actuality).

On the topic of Non-Duality:

It's not that one "needs" to go beyond the true genuine actual Liberating Realization of Non-duality, yes.... However if and when one can pray and ask to be guided to the actual source - one will go through Non-Dual Realization and from that true actual Liberated Freedom be drawn to realize more.

One can become a Buddha - a fully Enlightened one which equals Liberation Plus; however No matter how much one realizes their God/ Buddha-Nature it does not enable them to create Planets, Suns, Starts and Galaxies, not to mention all of Created subtle and gross material substance realms, let alone maintain the pure spiritual realms - beyond the highest astral realms.
