What's your scanning process?

I just got attuned to reiki as of yesterday. :) It's very exciting for me. I am now researching more about byosen scanning or reiki scanning techniques and I'm just wondering what everybody's experiences are when it comes to doing a scan. What was it like when you first started out? How did you develop your own "ritual"/find out what was right for you? Did it improve, progress or evolve in anyway over time?

For me, I find myself going in and out of the "reiki" zone...I really need to focus my intention on doing reiki and I can't stray even the slightest. Is this a common experience? Or do I just have attention-deficit-disorder LOL

What are the differences in sensations that you feel when you do scanning? I scanned my little brother last night and when I passed his left knee, it was very cold. That was where he injured his knee a few weeks ago. I scanned my mother as well; I felt intense heat coming from my hands when I approached her lower back. I know she's been having back pain there. During my initiation/class, the students practiced on each other and one person I scanned had an intense push from her sacral chakra--like the energy is really pushing against my hand and if I hold it there she told me she could feel my hand-energy coming down.
