This paying more for the same thing or getting less for the same price has been going on from at least the 1960s from when I was a kid . Nothing new .

To be fair it's not the stores fault but rather the manufacturers .
The shop keepers have no say in the produce or cost , and I am a former shop keeper so I do know.
The shop keepers ( genuine ones) are as much of a victim as the customers .
The only thing I would agree with is Native as in I would have NEVER sold wilted or old fresh produce.
I also worked in catering for many years and my mantra was always ""If I wouldn't eat it I won't serve it to my customers""..

My son has sent me a copy of an email he has sent to his local MP with regard to the astronomical rise in food prices and the poor quality of fresh produce.
Let's see what the response is !!!

A cup of soup has the exact same amount of soup as a bowl of soup.
Fresh produce has lower flavor standards then canned, and really..... Wash all your produce! I work in a supermarket, I see where that produce has been before it gets into your basket.

I read to use dilute vinegar to wash fruit and veg-the article mentioned some pesticides are designed to stay on during storms so just rinsing with water is not going to do much.
