Dutch India

Fragment from regression where I came up with "Dutch India" as explaination when telling of unsolved karma from a relationship got me surprised. My knowledge of the colonial history has not been the best, to say the least. I saw a movie once where the British (or was it a Television serie, perhaps?) were in India.

If anyone else has any memories from Dutch India or during the colonial it would be interesting to be able to read about it. The focus of the regression was, for me, the unsolved karma.

The family I was included in, they were not all that nice to an Indian family, and this is putting it mildly, and I was revolted.

I am impressed that you came up with Dutch India in your regression, as this is fairly obscure.

Various European countries established a presence in India from 1500 onwards.

We (ie the British) tend to think of India as having been a British possession (the jewel in the crown), although even during the height of the Raj there were still many separate states in India under the rule of various maharajas which had some degree of autonomy. British rule ended in 1947.

However, the Portuguese had controlled many coastal areas of India, and the remaining area around Goa was eventually annexed by India in 1961. Portugal only recognised Indian control in 1974.

The French also had various territories, most notably Pondicherry, which was not transferred to India until 1954. This finally became official in 1962.

The Dutch presence in India is less well known, lasting from 1605-1825, under the Dutch East India Company. The term Dutch India is mainly a geographical reference for trading purposes from this era, although the Dutch did seize Ceylon from the Portuguese in 1656, as well as ruling in Coromandel and Bengal.

The experience stood out to me as well because it got to blunt that there were people/spirits in my soulgroup who was family and then people/spirits from the same soulgroup that was in the other family, from India. At the time it was "us" and "them", but we were one, we were a "family" all of us, spiritually.
