No fears of that with moderning embalming practices!

Probably not legal in most localities.

I already have my tomb picked out and paid for, my funeral prepaid, and my name and birthdate on the tomb.

Haven't given much thought to the actual funeral service, though. . . need to work on that.

Just dig a hole in the backyard, bury me in it.

Many people say that: but is that going to happen? It's almost certainly not legal, unless you live way out in the country: and your survivors are almost certainly not going to do that.

The best thing for everyone to do is to take care of as many of the details as they can, while they're still here and able to do so.

Cremate me, drive up to as far as you can go in the rocky mountains, dump me into the creek at the very top, so I can flow down to the ocean.

Don't cry for me, just be happy.

Your wishes may well change over time, Wildfire. If you were my age, though (60), I'd advise you to start making arrangements to make that happen while you are still able to.

The more of your wishes you leave to others, or to chance, the less likely they are to be accomplished.

Can't say I'm really fussed - perhaps a cremation - but I'd be interested in knowing what people really thought of me haha!

I've told my family that instead of a traditional type funeral, I'd like them to have a pizza party in my honor with music, and everyone wearing bright, happy colored clothes...'cuz I'm definitely gonna be celebrating on the Other Side, so they should too!

We always need to consider the wishes of those we leave behind. What we might want might be uncomfortable for them. Our funerals are an earthly commemoration of our own rite of passage, but they are also a part of the grieving process for our loved ones.

I remember when I was a kid, I told my mother that when I died, I wanted to be put in the ground naked, and a tree planted over me.

She thought seriously about what I'd said. Then said to me, "please don't ever tell story this to anyone else!"
