I have a black tourmaline as well but haven't really used it for anything... I bought last year but for some reason forgot about it till now. 
Perhaps I should look for it and keep it in my pocket...

The funny thing about my black tourmaline is that when I bought it I got that particular one because it had a small streak of gold running across it and when I put it into my palm it literally started to "pump" my hand as if it was drawing something out of it-I've never experienced something like that before.
Only thing is that despite cleaning and re-energising it I still find it a bit too "heavy" and intense for me. I went out once and took it with me and I felt a lot of negativity-not from the tourmaline itself but the negativity that I can feel off of people was intensified and so I wonder why that was so.
My watermelon tourmaline, however, is fine and has a lighter personality.
