Is Ego the Devil ?

Some seem to think Ego is evil and refer it to Satan, why, how ?

No wonder at times there's such a lot of confusion based around religious notions .

I watched a bit of a documentary about a family in America who are totally convinced about other's that sin against God ..

So God has actually said this to them lol?

It's a worthy experience, even of one goes down this fanatical route, but there never is any truth to it ..

All there is, is a belief based upon what one resonates with through being conditioned by whatever that is .

The ego refers to Satan can only come from that same starting block .

I generally feel sorry for fanatics that carry these type of false beliefs but for such peeps, where they are at, they need the experience of the falsities in order to some day see that is what they are .

Hehe! That is a classic reaction for all who have gotten rather fed up with the perpetual ego bashing, ego banishing, and ego killing going on in the spirituality world.

But hey! When in Rome.

In one sense the ego is the devil. People do terrible or "evil" things, in the world and often that behavior has roots in the mind and how it sees the world, the ego, and the need to survive and thrive. Unfortunately, rather then question how they see the world and that ego and the relationship between them, they instead just blame the devil for the evil in the world.

Hmmm..... Must be the Joneses or the Smiths. Yeah, they live on my block. I see them come by walking their dog once and a while, with their flack jackets on and AR-15's strapped to their chests. You know, incase they spot any anti-American evil doers and need to protect themselves and their freedoms. Don't know about where you live, but here in the US Satan could pop up just about anywhere, and you gots to be prepared to deal with him.

Good idea for a thread!
My take: My idea is I do not know exactly what the heck this ego is that makes me wanna have one extra cocktail
or that extra triple chocolate cake or influences me to procrastinate and be lazy or
all the others things that are not good for me....
But, I do see that very thing is what is 'called' the devil or satan by Christians.
That's all I know, making it 'other than part of myself' - what God has created as my total being...
ie, a multi-layered spiritual entity with thoughts and choices.

I know it can be 'tamed' or controlled.
It really has little power when I simply say, 'No', to these inner thoughts for laziness or jealousy or
anger or low self esteem caused by this 'thing'.
So there is an "I" that can make a choice not to follow 'its' urgings.

Is it an external 'thing' such as a fallen angel and his minions, called demons, that have access to my mind?
Or is it another area or level of myself or my mind or my soul;
in other words, the lower ego self and the higher ego self as described by scholars with PhDs. (?)
