As for me, when it comes to Buddhism, I resonate mostly with the Eastern versions of Buddhism which have much diversifications. I also get along very nicely with monks from the East who are in the West.

I think you are confusing the Teachings of Hinduism with Buddhism. Reincarnation and the concept of a permanent Soul is not part of Buddha's Teachings.

you can also look at it from another angle. Some Buddhists are adamant they do not have faith, which other religions need in order to believe. But to believe in something you can not prove, does take faith which some Buddhists consider a dilemma.
