Any thoughts on the Saturn/Pluto conjunction coming up?

The exact conjunction takes place on January 12th but we have already been feeling the effects for maybe a month now. Obviously getting stronger as we near that date. They will be at the same degree from Jan 6th -14th so that is when it will be at their strongest. It is supposed to be a very powerful energy that will affect each and every one of us on both a personal and global level. This conjunction only takes place every 40 years about. This time around it is in Capricorn, making Saturn particularly potent as it is in it home sign. He is going to leave no stone unturned. The last time the two met up in Capricorn was in 1518. While the conjunction doesn't last for any significant period of time, the effects that this energy is going put into motion what it is set out to do that will be felt for some time. 2020 is likely going to be a particularly difficult year that we as a planet will be experiencing together. Those of us with planets affected by this will be feeling it the most, on some level or another.

Saturn's effects always bring lessons. It is going to bring to light what we need to work on. His lesson's aren't known to be easy. His job is to make sure you learned that lesson and that doesn't come without it's share of pain. Accepting what is being taught and going with it instead of fighting it makes it easier. Pluto brings about transformation by means of destruction. He tears down what is no longer serving a purpose only to eventually reconstruct it into something new & useful. When the two conjunct it basically blends the energies together working as a team using the effects of both planets. Saturn brings out what needs to be fixed and applying his method of teaching, while Pluto detects what all was affected by Saturn and destroys it. We will be both rebuilding and learning how to apply this new energy effectively.

From what I have read about this transit, we can expect to be forced to release something that we've be holding onto that we need to let go of. This is almost guaranteed to be a painful process, but accepting this inevitability and willingly letting go when asked too can make it easier for us. While the initial process won't be the most pleasant, what rebuilt in it's place will be all worth it in the end.

On a global scale it is predicted that this transit is going to expose anyone in a position of authority who is abusing their power by fulfilling their own personal agenda for selfish reasons such as greed, power, lust...whatever. And bringing those individuals/organizations to justice.

Only time will tell though!

Any other predictions on this? I am somewhat excited to see what it will bring.

Pluto is all about transformation and the death of the old, while Saturn is the planet most closely associated with karma. Capricorn is an earth sign. So we might expect all manner of things to be pushed to the surface and made manifest.

As well as Saturn conjunct Pluto on 12 January 2020, Mercury and Ceres will be conjunct both planets as well on that day. And the Sun will be conjunct Saturn, Pluto and Ceres on 13 January.

There is an article on this in the latest Nexus magazine by Jessica Davidson. She says: Saturn-Pluto alignments represent the need for deep changes in the structure of society and how we use power. The old order is destroyed and a new one is born, and that means we have to accept the death of the old system.

The article also says: It is no accident that the Saturn-Pluto conjunction is happening so close to the Pluto return in the horoscope of the United States. The US has Pluto at 27 degrees Capricorn in the 2nd house of resources and finances, so whatever happens over the next few years will have a profound effect on its power structures. And that, in turn, will impact the rest of the world.

Such changes do not happen overnight. But if we look at what was happening in Europe at the last such conjunction in Capricorn in 1518, this was at the start of the Reformation in Europe. The authority of the Roman Catholic Church which had held sway for so long was challenged by people such as Luther, Calvin and Zwingli, and Europe was never the same.

Even if it takes a while to manifest, there could be interesting times ahead.

Peace

Thanks for sharing that, Iamthat. I find this particular event to be incredibly fascinating. I have been reading up on it over the last few months & am trying to get a head start on letting go of what needs to go. As far as the overall effect it is going to have on this world, well, I for one am excited. Maybe I am crazy, this is guaranteed to be a painful process. But goodness, am I ever tired of these morons in power. Its one thing after another. We desperately need this. Saturn don't mess around. I both respect and fear what he does and have learned it is best to just do whatever the psychopath says. He has had a very powerful effect on my life in recent years that rewired me completely. For that reason I love to keep my family and coworkers informed on what he is up to. I know what you are thinking and yes, I am fun at parties.

Yes, who knows what will happen, but I trust that in the long run it will be beneficial for human development.

I am also aware that significant astrological events often occur with no obvious change in human affairs. This may make some people question the validity of astrology, but perhaps it needs the benefit of hindsight long after the event to see that changes were in fact set in place.

Saturn is very powerful in my chart (Capricorn Ascendant with Saturn in Capricorn). In fact, the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January is also conjunct my own Ascendant (not exact but close enough). It could be interesting. I am actually quite fond of Saturn. I think of Saturn as like a strict but fair teacher, sometimes severe but always with my best interests at heart.

Enjoy those Christmas parties.

Yeah I believe it will be a process for sure. I think this conjunction is just basically going to put everything into motion. I am sure we will encounter more cosmic events in the future that will fuel those effects, pushing us ever closer to this conjunction's end goal. God only knows how long it will go on for but it is happening so why not enjoy the ride

I was scrolling through some gossip rag online today when I came across an article regarding Saturn, so naturally I clicked on it. It mentioned the Ceres conjunction you were talking about in your last post as well as one involving Juno. Nothing about any of the other planets involved. Only Saturn, Ceres & Juno. Of course it started on about what that meant for us regarding relationships, because that is the only way to get our brain dead society to click on something of this nature *sigh* Oh well, if it gets some people interested in astrology then that is all that really matters. Anyway it was saying how this is going to change our views towards relationships (it was obviously talking about romantic relationships, I am guessing this is where Juno comes into play.) What we previously considered to be essential to our relationships will become less important to us. We are supposed to have a refreshed outlook on what a relationship to be and as a result will attract this new energy into our lives. Old relationships may dissolve if they aren't sturdy enough and the ones that were build to last with go through somewhat of a renewal. I don't know if that has anything to do with what I am experiencing right now or if it is due to the fact that this saturn/pluto/ceres/juno/sun whatever else I am leaving out - conjunction that is working it's way through my 7th house right now. Or perhaps a little of both but I have noticed that I have been changing my feelings towards all types of relationships. Friends, coworkers, family, animals, romantic, people I don't like...everyone really... not necessarily in a bad way but I have definitely felt a change in recent months. Also, My part of fortune is in close conjunction with these planets. I have never really paid much attention to this in my chart before, I have never before had a reason to but I noticed how close it was to everything that is going on right now so I decided to see what it means exactly. It is said to amplify the effects of any planet or point it is in close conjunction to.......so yay....

I feel you. Saturn has become my absolute favorite recently (Hence the user name ) Due to my upbringing I completely lacked Saturn's influence in my life. I couldn't grasp it let alone make use of it. My Saturn return started 4 years ago. I have a stellium with my mercury, saturn, uranus & Sun all in sagittarius so his entire time in Sagittarius he was all up in my business. He also had difficult aspects to my Moon, Mars & Jupiter all during this time so he was really kicking me into gear. I am very in tune with Saturn these days and have come to really appreciate his role in everything. He has a difficult but necessary job.

Yes, the 7th house is the house of relationships, and it sounds like you have a lot going on. So you might expect many changes. Some relationships may reach a natural end, others will become stronger. It is all good.

When you said "I am fun at parties", I wondered if you had a strong Sagittarius. Lower Sagittarius has the reputation of being a party animal. The old symbol for Sagittarius was the centaur, part human and part animal. The higher symbol of Sagittarius is the archer riding the horse, symbolising that the human has risen above the animal nature and now controls it. This is the spiritual disciple, shooting the arrow towards the goal, achieving it, and then setting a new goal.

Astrology is an interesting subject.

There is coming up a heavy heavy heavy... set of energies as Pluto, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter are going to be placed in Capricorn. For Saturn, it seems all right, responsibility at heigths. For Pluto and Mars it is feeling as restrianed energy of destruction/recreation (Pluto), and fighting (Mars). This is not a literal destruction or figthing. It is otherwise a spiritual battle that will be amplified by Jupiter, pure light of enshrining of what it is.
I guess all would better take care of 9 to 12 houses.
Nine will be especially crowded.
That is all I have seen and felt right now.
Sending bliss and peace to all go through this as slow and aware as possible.

While the exact conjunction is in January the effects of this transit will run through the entire year. Or at least that's my understanding from what I have read. I've got the Sun and Mercury in Capricorn via my natal chart. I am thinking of approaching 2020 in this way.
The green screen backdrop to life's drama's has now turned grey. There's a silent 1920 movies in the background and ever so often it interacts with real life.
Both Venus and Mars have retrograde cycles in 2020 in addition to the usual mercury ones. It may be a year of shadows and heaviness. It should be challenging to say the least.
