So you might say that trying to get relaxed by putting in effort is utterly useless as is trying to get bliss or, of course, to reach enlightenment. Effortless meditation is the key, but it wont get you anywhere.

using effort is one thing, and sometimes even may seem necessary... I just doubt the concept that you have to use it all the time, at the exclusion of everything else, just to gain some goal or other. But what do I know, I just like to sleep

Yes, true. But sleep is almost the same as meditation so far as if you put in effort when trying to go go sleep you never will succeed. ;-)

hehehe

personally I think the 'effortless' thing is as bad as the 'lets do effort all the time' thing! I know it seems like a good idea but in fact neither seems to be any better than the other in terms of getting someone anywhere, with spirituality. Must be something we are missing? Probably something about the ineffectiveness of buying ideas about what one should do on the open market if I were to guess...

Of course the two may coincide, but you know how I mean.

I agree with your assessment.

Happiness is the result of an enlightened mind whereas suffering is caused by a distorted mind.
