I find both the Scottish and Geordie accents hard to understand. I used to date a Jamaican and we both had to alter our accents to be mutually understood

I met a Geordie once and before that I'd always believed their accent was easy to understand but her accent was so broad I couldn't understand a word she said.

Finding all the talk of accents interesting. I have travelled around the country on holidays and haven’t really struggled with too many of the accents, though I haven’t yet been to Newcastle or Glasgow. People have said that they can struggle with the Northern Ireland accent, but my grandparents came from there, so I am kind of used to it. I do find Republic of Ireland accents harder at times, because they can be spoken very quickly.

My Aunty said the same when she lived in Los Angeles, and found Dalziel and Pascoe hard to understand (yet she is British herself). The UK, though a small country, has such a variety of accents.
