of course, it would only down grade it from fact to belief.

It is a theory. It did not begin as fact. It began as a theory and remains a theory. Besides, there is no law or equation or anything that dictates that the universe must slow down and start shrinking again. Over extremely long distances, objects are no longer gravitationally interacting. There is a limit to how far the effects of the gravity of an object can reach. Gravity is only one of the forces in existence that does one thing. Other forces do different things. One of them causes objects to move apart from each other, and over great distances this force has more influence than gravity. If you look into what information scientists have at this point and which theories are backed by solid evidence, it only makes sense that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate.

The expansion of the universe is not a result of gravity imo. The expansion appears to be from a lack of gravity. If gravity comes into play the universe would contract. The big bang also does not need to be a small colission like something in a persons palm. It could have been two massive black holes the size of our galaxy that caused the effect in our region of the universe. The universe is large enough to have two huge balck holes in a space far away from other galactic events. We still see very little of what is around us, both far and near.

Remember all information is processed within the mind and all energy in vital and dynamic now. When ever some scientist evaluates or observes the universe he or she is doing so in the moment. The only moment we have that can be shared is a now moment. I'm sure some silver tongue devil can phrase this idea better that I, anyway I hope this may cause you to pause and reflect.
