Reminds me of some of the Catholic Catechisms I have seen. God is portrayed as an Old Man and Jesus is portrayed as a young, white man.

Ha, And yet Jacob lived ---he saw God with his Inner Eye, 'If thine eye be single...' in Luke ...not the external eyeballs.
Maybe I should have mentioned that?

[ if thine eye be single ] apart from Luke reminds me of ME's* The eye with which I see God is the same with
which God sees me. My eye and God's eye is one eye, and one sight, and one knowledge, and one love.

I had a friend that laughed at the bible but his divine sparkled as a son of god he didn't know about while being a man. With divine we see I AM. this temple made without hands is Gods in church or the bar.

I will agree with Molearner the LIVE is Chayay(#2425 Strong's) and it is more speaking of a changed or revitalized life.
So I would say, you can not see the face of God and stay the same, your
old life is destroyed and you are reborn into a new spirit man.

After Moses came down from the mountain his face shown with light.

EDIT: Also FACE is more complex than a persons face. It is paneh from the root word panah meaning to turn.
paneh is more the face part that turns

Also in Psalms we are instructed to seek His face.

Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.” – Psalm 105:4

Only a glimpses of God's manifestation changes you forever, hence why like almost all people who had a positive NDE suffer an incredible change.

God is the greatest of the greatest of the greatest, there's nothing greater than God.

You can say that again and again and again.
I shall never tire of hearing that, ThatMan.

Interesting discussion Jojo.

And what about archangel Metatron who is said to look at God face to face?

Metatron was said to be a man before, but of course in this case we can not say he is still living as a normal man is...

Also in no man shall see Me, and live. What dies when seeing God? The ego? the physical body? The soul?

So much different interpretation can be made here.

One may find a true answer to those questions in the direct experience of God, or should I say the vanishing of the experimenter in God. IMHO.

Believing in what the scriptures says remains faith until it is replaced by direct experience.

Regards,
