Short version:
Haiku is a very short form of Japanese poetry in three phrases, typically characterized by three qualities:
1. The essence of haiku is "cutting" (kiru).
This is often represented by the juxtaposition of two images or ideas and a kireji ("cutting word") between them, a kind of verbal punctuation mark which signals the moment of separation and colours the manner in which the juxtaposed elements are related.
2. Traditional haiku often consist of 17 on (also known as morae though often loosely translated as "syllables"), in three phrases of 5, 7, and 5 on, respectively.[3]
3. A kigo (seasonal reference), usually drawn from a saijiki, an extensive but defined list of such terms.

Guess I'm gonna read some examples and try again... :)

Good for you to research the Japanese tradition of Haiku. Lots of Western poets have written Haiku too. It's good that you are paying attention, we can all write endless amounts of 'supposed' haiku but they are lacking in something ? what is that they are lacking in ? If you have ever learned anything like a dance or something and then someone came along and brought their own rules to that dance you just learned, you would be probably amused to say the least ? Apparently the Japanese liked to use images within nature of animals and trees etc. to create Haiku. Also some of the great Haiku poets were Zen monks and masters so there is definitely a flavour of seeing through in this form of poetry ? So to flippantly write your psychological stuff down in the form of a haiku is not always correct to write your psychological stuff down and to relate it to the whole of the world, well that's another story.
So yes its a life times pursuit a path which i don't think i'm on through choice. Thanks again for your inspiring post. :)

I'm sorry if any one took it as criticism, I always love to learn more, and wanted to share it here.
