Life is a work in progress. Societies are works in progress.
Everybody is a work in progress. You and I are work in progress too.
There is always room for improvement. Always.
The abundance of food in the west is unprecedented in history. Many people are just not prepared to handle that abundance. The usual way for people to learn is to learn by experience. You can talk about food for ages, but tasting food and feeling it going into your body and experiencing that effect is totally different.
Same with sex. ;)
Learning by experience is the natural way of evolution.
People need to develop conscious. They must become aware of the consequences of their actions. A lot of people lack the knowledge of how to properly handle food and switch to a proper diet. It's a blank in their conscious. You can't blaim people for not knowing everything. And it's quite natural for people to stick to habits that have rusted in.
So the few people who do have made that progression to a healthier and more compassionate diet are ahead of the rest.
Compassion is not limited to animals alone. Nor to people alone.
Compassion and love can expand to everything and everybody that lives.
The books of Jozef Rulof haven given me some marvelous insights about life. It has explained me
how the spheres of light and darkness originated. My eyes just popped out when I read that.
It has also explained that
once you have made it into a sphere of light it's no guarantuee at all that you will not fall back anymore. In general the various aspects of human being are not all of the same level. So when someone who already made it to a sphere of light incarnates back on earth it's easy enough to become prone to their lower aspects. And when they return back to the afterlife after they finished that life on earth then ofthen enough they have to accept the twilight zone or even less. In spite of the fact that they left from a sphere of light! It's so amazing to know this. It has made me more aware and more cautious of what I do and should refrain from.
So it's inevitable for people to make mistakes. That's how we learn. By experience.
Many people are oblivious to the effects that their choices in life have on their future life. Same goes for food.
I think that I can contribute some positive input by telling them about the benefits for their health and the environment. And that's what I do. My arguments are adressed to their egoism and self interest: plant based food is better for your health and is more sustainable for the planet. And I use scientific reports to support that.
I have learned that people all care about live stock. They all find that cows and pigs should live out in the open. But when you tell them about the different reality of mega barns they all turn away and don't care anymore. You have to eat. Right? That's their final argument.
I think I have more chance of succes when I address their egoism and self interest. Survival, good health and your own happiness goes first. And when people make healthier food choices, more towards plant based, animals will benefit from it automatically.
I bought a polo-shirt some time ago with the
vegetarian logo on the chest. I'm on a vegan diet, but people recognize this symbol. From time to time I put it on and make a walk downtown to the center of the city. It's crowded overthere with tourists all the time, year around. That's how I make a statement.
Sometimes you see someone looking up. Wants to see what kind of a person it is that would do such a thing. I have also seen a fat man on a bike looking at me. There was this glance of recognition in his eyes. And then it faded away again. I walk by a burger tent. People come out and see the logo. Well, nothing changes, but they do know wheat it means. It does remind them. And some people smile when they see you, or even greet you.
So that's what I do about it. Among others.
And I feel good about it.
There are various industries that have interest that conflict with the health of people and well being of us all. Pharmacies, bio industrie, sugar industry, oil and gas companies. They talk about profit, economic importance, jobs, etcetera.
It would be just so much better if people would just realize that a plant based diet would be better for all of us. But it scares people. They think they lose everything. They don't know what happens. They think they would probably die if they did...............
