Chan is the originating tradition of Zen Buddhism (the Japanese name, which is the most commonly used name for the school in English). Chan Buddhism spread from China south to Vietnam as Thiền and north to Korea as Seon, and, in the 13th century, east to Japan as Japanese Zen.

In Zen, practitioners keep their mind on the void.

That's an interesting saying. What is the void? Well the answer is not a thing. What's a thing? We are experiencing things all the time. But, are they experienced as things? What is this now? Is it a thing? It's not something other than what it is, what it is before a thought forms about it. But it is not an it either... void..... thing..... it..... these all come about when a thought comes to divide me from this as it is... ah and it's not a this...."it's" everything and nothing, it's pre-verbal, form is adding a structure, a concept, a direction, it is being without form... that's the void.... and one does not keep their mind on it, there is no mind apart from me.... I keep myself here now as it is without me adding to it, without interpreting or commenting on it... in anyway...

that's zen or chan or just reality as it is with and without "me"

there are empty green fields under the sun and moon, a cool breeze blowing, not a living being anywhere close... then a zen monk appears, nothing has changed

Then Gem would be your ‘man’ – Zen and the Art of Weight Lifting

What sort of a Russian (?) hologram are you – Caucasian?
If so – here is a song for you with those Dagestani (?) elements and landscape …

BTW … Thanks for the Chan magazine link.

I prefer the term white instead of Caucasian - I'm weird about it - Aryans
I don't want to be called caucasian for some reason

thanks for the video - I like it - I can see my signs - I feel comfortable

I seem to have some deep ancestry from Nogays in Caucasus. Nogays also mixed with Yakut-(Dolgan)-Evenk Ancestors … so there is a lot of the same kind of symbolism I can relate to

But they … ‘we’ weren’t exactly “White Caucasians”.

So I guess this is my Nogay Ancestors song:

Nogays also did become Sufis – that might have calmed them down somewhat.

I'm extremely uncomfortable around people who aren't white - I also don't like being around white people who are evil

I can't even function as a human being around them - I just have to get away from the situation - it's evil - they're evil - they will smile to your face and try to kill you

zen isn't my cup of tea as all other religions and philosophies are not -- I just be without looking at it from a zen point of view

being as nothing I suppose -

if it requires too much thought I'm really not interested in it
why would I even think about the question in the first place ?
.
.
I'm going to do two and a half hours walking meditation now and I'm not going to think about anything - including stepping

I'm not going to be mindful -- I am just going to walk -- so simple - why complicate things - there is nothing to think about - if there is it will arise and fall - and I will just keep walking until the time is up
.
.
life will keep happening and I will continue to try to deal with it as it happens
.
.
I like sunday because I can just leave my phone turned off - saturday is a business day here - I am always just hoping that nothing at all happens - so I will have nothing at all to deal with --- it would be a great day if there was no mail and no phone call

unless it was an amazon package

my life is solitude - it's very peaceful and quiet - it's very simple - I have no need for zen questions
