Hendrix was kinda punk in his time.. loud, raw, rude, sloppy, and desecrated the national anthem with distortion. The Who also. Now they're just car commercial fodder.
No one really seems to remember why rock was so popular among teens in the first place - it was dangerous. People get old they'd rather be comfortable and ridicule the new generation's music and praise their own as the 'real' rock.

You got old man. The parents said the same thing about your music.

I certainly wouldn't describe Hendrix' version of tSSB as desecration; it was magnificent!
Danger isn't particularly attractive to me. I think what you're looking for is an energy that is associated with danger.
Danger equals risk; risk leads to loss -- that's just the 'odds'. You're not apt to gain through the process of loss.
the Freddie Gibbs tune was flash (I liked it).
here's Hendrix, "the Star Bangled Banner":

yeah Freddie Gibbs is cold (that's means he's good)
No of course it's not a desecration anymore, but it was to the parents at the time. Sure danger is about loss.. loss of fears, limits, lies, beliefs, and society's rules about how to think. Truth and honesty is dangerous because we're afraid to leave comfortable mold of group think and conformity. If you do that, society makes it's clear 'we don't like you, you threaten us'. Children of blank-mind parents often embrace the fear and then go out looking for a queer to beat up. Or joyfully join the military and get sent off to die.

You could well be onto something.
Consider this though: People expend their efforts into
making life more comfortable, more enjoyable.
Then, their children start raising a ruckus -- "Wah, Wah, I'm not satisfied"
All of the earlier efforts are viewed as wasted time --> there is a rebellion against the rebellion! (becuz the oldtimers don't wanna be discarded)

Children raise a ruckus because human ignorance doesn't go away and they see it in their time. Kids may be immature but they're not as dumb as we think they are.

Then came a time when it was no longer important to have much musicianship so the lead guitar was forsaken along with the music's soul.
