I think some people would be willing to pay really well for a guaranteed cure not to remember them any more.

How far back can you remember in this life? Do you remember being in your mother’s womb? Can you remember the day you were born and what that was like?
Until the brain has formed and is operating properly there is no memory. Humans born with autism or any other neurological or developmental disorder may not have the same memory capacity as others. There are older adults who also lose their memory. Memory just may be a learning tool only for the human state of being in the present.
Memory gives us continuity of life; it is like our rearview mirror but while we may be born with feelings, lots of people are not born with memories; they develop memories as their physical body grows and often lose those memories later in life. An often people remember things differently than they may have happened.
Desires are forward thinking and memories are backward thinking, one is about the future and the other is about the past. We can lose our desires just as well as we can lose our memories. They are all just thoughts or visual projections in my opinion. To exist in total silence with no desires or memories is frequently experienced in quiet mediation.

I can remember a lot of stuff from age 4, a bit from age 3.

Old age is overrated for many, unless one can remain healthy and have good memory. Someone like David Attenborough, he's still going strong making documentaries and able to speak well in front of a crowd. He is there. But many people become plant like.

I get what your saying Altair.
I’m sick of looking at books in the bookshops with titles saying,…….Embrace your old age……or something to that affect. I just stand there looking at it and thinking…….what a load old cobblers!
Embrace what?………not being able to run up hills anymore, not skating anymore, back aching when you weed your garden, getting tired more easily, putting on weight quickly, aching joints, arthritis, looking at your body and not recognising it anymore…..……yeah ain’t it wonderful!!!
BUT, I gotta say, on a more positive note for me personally, that I am much happier emotionally, psychologically and mentally than I’ve ever been, which obviously has come with age.

The thing I like about old age is that my gen**als are not running my life anymore but I do miss them dragging me around.
In my late 70’s now and sometimes I feel like my body is slowly dying, but fortunately I am not attached to my physical body, nonetheless, I still will take care of it until it dies.
Not a sad thing at all, just the process of human life. Living in the moment now more than ever, and in this eternal moment there are no memories or desires.

@Starman What can I say given that I am in my twenties and experience this first hand, it may sound strange but I wish I would have been old so I don't have to be bothered by the never stopping waves of sexual energy.
Now, on topic, I think amnesia is a thing based on my personal experiences and based on my experiences its purpose is for us to have this experience otherwise there's will be no experience of separation, how can it be? But even given amnesia, what about the many layers? Layers and layers of amnesia all leading to what people call the Source.
In those moments when "amnesia" faded away I bathed in waves of love and waves of tears falling down my face, so so much love, and I was wide awake, so much love, the ground under my feet was loving me, the grass, the trees, the winds, my house, my yard, things we call lifeless were more alive than everything I ever experienced, a rock, a rock was full of life...

I disagree wholeheartedly from exp.
And not just about past life stuff. Belief is one of the the most powerful forces in the entire Universe.
In fact, it came first, before the Creation of the Universe...right after a thought and a desire,
then the command, my take.
Thought, desire, belief, command.
