My step-father always told me when he first worked outside of home, he made $15.00 a week. To him, that was a lot of money. I never asked him how old he was but I guess he was around 15 years old.

My first enterprise began when I was about 8 years old. I would collect earthworms from the driveway after a rain and put them in a coffee can. The coffee can would have spent coffee grounds in it. I think I charged 1 or 2 cents per earthworm.

We used to lift up stuff like old carpet ,paper and boards to find earthworms for fishing, get a stick and find tangled gear near the banks of the local pond, we did better than those with all the gear.
